Précision_sur la representation :	Saint Jean Baptiste est vêtu d'une tunique mi-longue, découvrant l'épaule droite. La chevelure, séparée par une raie médiane, encadre le visage de façon symétrique et retombe en ondulations jusqu'à la naissance des épaules. le saint se tient debout, avec un mouvement hanché vers la gauche ; les pieds sont nus, la jambe droite est repliée vers l'arrière ; le pied droit repose sur des arbustes stylisés au feuillage frisé (caractéristique fin 16e siècle, début 17e siècle) qui sont un rappel du désert où saint Jean-Baptiste prêchait. L'agneau, vers lequel le saint tend l'index de sa main droite, est couché sur livre fermé dans la main gauche ; ce geste illustre le passage de l'évangile de Jean (Jn chapitre 1, verset 29) : 'Voici l'agneau de Dieu'.
