Historique :	Un groupe sculpté de saint Jean-Baptiste avec le mouton conservé dans l'église de Boury (Oise) est tout à fait semblable : il est en pierre peinte, de dimensions équivalentes et le saint et l'animal sont figurés dans les mêmes attitudes et le même drapé. Ces oeuvres modestes, au style à la fois réaliste (avec une anatomie bien respectée) mais aussi très populaire et naïf (représentation amusante et familière du mouton) étaient répétés avec quelques variantes et probablement réalisées dans les mêmes ateliers.

Précision_sur la representation :	Le saint est représenté debout avec un mouton à ses pieds, avec une courte barbe en collier, la poitrine, les jambes et les bras nus. Son manteau est dérivé de la mélote qui lui couvre l'épaule gauche et le bas du corps jusqu'à mi-cuisses avec une extrémité pendant entre les jambes. Il tient une croix (plus récente), à longue hampe, dans la main gauche.
