Description :	Composition tournante de conception baroque. La Vierge tenant l'enfant sur un lange est au premier plan. A sa gauche, saint Joseph qui se penche par dessus les poutres effondrées de l'étable couverte en chaume, ainsi que les têtes du boeuf et de l'âne. Aux pieds de l'enfant Jésus, les bergers forment un petit groupe compact. En arrière-plan, un morceau d'entablement avec colonne, et une épaisse nuée grisâtre avec trois têtes d'anges.

Historique :	Un petit tableau similaire de Carle Van Loo est conservé au musée de Chartres, il a été gravé et souvent reproduit inversé. Par comparaison, le tableau de Cormeilles-en-Vexin, qui présente de très bons éléments et des parties plus faibles, et qui est dans le même sens que le tableau de Chartres, peut être une oeuvre de l'atelier de Carle Van Loo avec une participation du maître.
