Historique :	Madame Léon Bertaux, née Héléne Pilate (1825-1909). Le modèle en plâtre a été exposé au Salon de 1857, sous le numéro 2754, le bronze l'a été aussi en 1859, sous le numéro 3081. Acquis par le ministre de la Maison de l'Empereur et placé dans l'église de Saint-Gratien, église construite en 1860-1861, par l'architecte Léon Ohnet.
